Letter from Board President

We are living in difficult times as we witness a growing discourse in our nation that marginalizes those who are disadvantaged, disabled or of gender or ethnic diversity.  This unfortunate climate informs the work we do at Brilliant Corners, where we strive to bring dignity, inclusion and purpose to the individuals we serve.  Our mission is clear and our staff is passionate and committed.  Together we work to bring about positive change. We measure our success one life at a time.

I have been honored to serve on this Board for the past six years and to now preside as the Board President.  We all acknowledge and celebrate the many years of service of our founding member, Diana Conti, who recently retired as our Board President after 12 years of service and increasing mission impact. During my tenure on the Board, I have watched our organization grow from a small office in San Francisco with a staff of 15 serving individuals with developmental disabilities and other vulnerable people in the Bay Area.  While continuing our work in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have expanded our services statewide, with offices in Los Angeles and other locations, and have taken on multiple programs, including scattered-site housing programs like LA County’s Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool and the Health Plan of San Mateo’s Community Care Settings Program, as well as supportive housing development and person-centered property management…….all challenging and important programs geared to improve the lives of those we serve.

Our work resonates on a personal level for me, being the father of an adult son who lives with a  developmental disability.  My son has struggled to find meaning to his life after suffering a brain tumor as a young boy and continuing to experience lifelong disabilities.  Despite having many advantages in life, our family has come face to face with the social isolation, limited options for independence, and lack of resources available for persons living with disabilities or chronic illness.  I have witnessed how the work of Brilliant Corners brings hope and dignity to so many struggling with these challenges.

Fueled by a compassionate vision, our leadership, management and incredible front-line teams make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.  The Board is committed to furthering these efforts and bringing positive change for our communities, our stakeholders and each and every individual we serve.  I salute the hard work and dedication of our staff and am proud to play a role in the work of Brilliant Corners.

Sincerely,

Donny Lieberman
Board President
