My pal Joey (and his friend, Ben) have started a comedy podcast called The Ben & Joey Show. Give it a listen, it’s good.

“davesecretaryatwork” has a knack for telling stories, and someone archived his story thread from the vivalavinyl message boards. I’m glad they did. Here’s one of the shorter ones:

SO ALSO IN KINDERGARTEN I APPARENTLY THOUGHT THAT THE KIDS IN MY CLASS DIDN’T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT COUGARS FOR SOME REASON, BECAUSE I DEFINITELY MADE A SWEET COUGAR QUIZ WHICH I INSISTED ON GIVING OUT TO THE CLASS THE NEXT DAY.

WHAT COLOR IS THE COUGAR? GOLD? NO! BROWN? NO! RED? NO! THE ANSWER IS TAWNY.

It seems the original thread on the vivalavinyl message board is gone, but someone posted these stories into a new thread here where “davesecretarystillatwork” comes in later with some new uppercase hijinx.

In my RSS newsreader, I have a few feeds from indeed.com to keep track of open positions in my area that I may be interested in. One of the feeds monitors the keyword “ruby.” Now, 95% of the time this gives me plenty of relevant job results. However, there are times I’m shown an open position that, at first, just seems too good to be true.

We have the most stable, longest term leadership team in the industry and are committed to the development of people. We invest millions of dollars in training and development of our people. We are committed to the personal and professional development of our teams. We view this investment as the number one priority for operational success.

Wow! A big focus on training and the company’s leadership has been there for the long haul; that’s rare these days. Umm, wait a sec.

This position will be responsible for varied duties involved in the overall operation of the restaurant including maintaining the Company’s Brand Promises of Gracious Hospitality, Uncompromising Freshness & Quality, and 5-Star Facilities with Quality Passion & Pride.

Hmm. I’m not sure this is really what I’m looking for. Oh, I see.

I’ve just spent some time going through some quotes from Arrested Development over at the Balboa Observer-Picayune (an excellent fan site).

Buster: Mom is becoming a little controlling.

Michael: What tipped you off? When she locked you out on the balcony again?

Buster: That was half my fault. I thought I saw a graham cracker out there.

Michael: You baited the balcony?

Lucille: Prove it.

Now I see there’s news that _AD_ may be picked up by another network, but I think the damage is done. If FOX would have only supported this Emmy Award-winning show, it could have gathered the higher ratings that they wanted. Oh well, at least we’ll have the DVDs.
