Again with the rebuilding
I think the best way to teach yourself a new web technology is to build yourself a weblog application. Well, I wanted to learn Merb, so that's what I did. Kinda. Basically, I just took the same database layout that I had in the last incarnation (which was written in Ruby on Rails) and then just wrote a Merb application around it.
I'll probably have more on Merb as I've learned quite a bit, and I've become quite enamored of the little framework that could!
For those of you in feed readers, I apologize if you get all my posts in your reader again. Some URLs have changed, and the commenting doesn't work as well as I want it to yet, but it's passable for now.
Moving to a new host
If you're reading this post in your newsreader, or you're browsing at the site (gasp!), then you're reading from my new host. I think I've managed to migrate everything over without any problems, but I'm sure I missed something.
I've also decided to drop my secondary weblog at creative.brilliantcorners.org, as I'll just start posting the things that would go over there at this blog. I have enough trouble keeping up with one weblog. Ugh.
I still have some work to do on the layout, but it's basically where I want to start from. So, here's to yet another do-over!
Busy, busy, busy
I think I've redesigned this weblog more times than I've actually posted anything here. If you come to the site you'll see yet another layout. How long I'll stick with this one is anyone's guess.
Although I haven't been writing anything here, I have been posting elsewhere. I started another weblog (crazy, right?) to help kick start and keep track of my more creative output. You can see it here: http://creative.brilliantcorners.org/. I'm not posting all that much more over there, but for some reason I felt like I need to keep those kinds of posts separate.
Also, to help motivate me to get on my new bike more, I wrote and set up a simple bike-ride tracking app over here: http://biketripper.brilliantcorners.org/. Sadly, I haven't been riding my bike as much as I like, as you can see from the sporadic entries. As it warms up a little bit here, hopefully that will change.
And thanks to this post, I've added in the MetaWeblog API posting ability so I can post something here with MarsEdit instead of using the ugly online posting screens I wrote. Now, if only I can get some decent comment spam protection built, I'll (probably) finally be happy with this weblog app.
A day late
Well, I didn't make the deadline for the CSS Reboot, but here's my new design. It still needs some work, and it looks pretty hideous in IE on a PC. I'll get around to fixing that later. I just want to get these changes online.
