Remembering our Residents
Brilliant Corners has been transitioning people out of Laguna Honda Hospital through the San Francisco Department of Public Health-Housing and Urban Health Scattered-Site Housing Program. We not only have the pleasure of working with individuals in placing them back into community housing, but as they age in place – we are privileged to be able to witness their enjoyment of independent living through our on-going housing retention services. Building relationships are inevitable, and being able to share memories of their lives is truly valued.
“Jeff loved his home and took pride in it. He really enjoyed living close to the ballpark because he was a big Giant’s fan and he and his friends would frequent the area on game days. He surrounded himself with very good friends to include a friend’s dog named “Kita” who visited him frequently. Jeff loved this dog very much that he even had a designated doggy area in his home where the dog could sleep and play with the many toys Jeff had bought him. After living in his own apartment for the first time in many years, it was discovered that Jeff also had a green thumb. He had plants sitting on his window sill that did great and flourished with his care. Jeff took a lot of pride in knowing that he was a great resident in his building complex, and would always find an opportunity for us to vocalize that in front of his company that he’s never received one complaint from the leasing office since he moved in. Our affirmation would always put a great big smile across his face.”
