Brilliant Corners is excited to announce the groundbreaking of Timothy House, a new interim housing site that will serve transition-age youth in the Long Beach community. Timothy House will be constructed as part of Long Beach Rescue Mission’s existing Samaritan House site, and will undergo renovation to accommodate 12 transition-age youth with a focus on providing safe and supportive living conditions.
Brilliant Corners’ Capital Improvement Intermediary Program (CIIP) Team is proud to serve as a partner on this project, providing construction management, project management, and administrative support to this project through its completion. This project will involve constructing sleeping areas, communal space, bathrooms, and a small courtyard for residents to enjoy. The goal is to create an environment that fosters independence, safety, and community for the site’s residents.
Long Beach Rescue Mission’s Executive Director, Jeff Levine, shared that “the need for creating a place of healing and hope for this growing population experiencing homelessness could not be greater. Over the next several months, we will build out a portion of our Samaritan House dedicated to meeting the needs of our youth so that they [can] receive compassionate care in their time of need.”
The event also included remarks from Mayor Rex Richardson, Jeanette Christian, Long Beach Field Deputy for LA County Fourth District Supervisor, Janice Hahn, a moving testimony from an individual with lived experience, and a closing prayer led by Chaplain Torie Russel, Program Manager of Long Beach Rescue Mission.
About the Capital Improvement Intermediary Program: The Los Angeles County’s Board of Supervisors launched CIIP in 2017 to expand interim housing and support services for the County’s homeless residents, especially chronically homeless individuals and families, transition-age youth, pregnant women, survivors of domestic violence, and adults with severe mental illness. As CIIP’s fiscal operator, Brilliant Corners provides a range of master-leasing, disbursement, and construction project management services to scale new interim housing sites in partnership with the County’s Department of Health Services.
