For Jasmine, stable housing has been a pathway to creating a safe and secure home for herself and her child.
Jasmine had previously faced personal and mental health challenges that made it difficult to find and keep safe shelter. At one of the most difficult points in her journey, Jasmine was separated from her child. Since joining the Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) program, Jasmine has worked to build stability, create a path toward greater independence and create a home she hopes will one day welcome her child.
With support from her Housing Coordinator, Jasmine strengthened communication with her property manager and built positive relationships with those involved in her housing journey. Her Housing Coordinator also helped her access resources to furnish her apartment and make the space more welcoming for family visits.
Today, Jasmine lives in a one-bedroom apartment in Los Angeles. She has secured part-time employment, consistently meets her responsibilities as a tenant and remains committed to maintaining the stability she has worked hard to achieve. Her Housing Coordinator describes her as motivated, resilient and committed to positive change.
While the journey has not always been easy, Jasmine remains determined. Throughout the process, her Housing Coordinator played a critical role in helping Jasmine feel safe, supported and empowered by building trust through a nonjudgmental, person-centered approach. Jasmine is consistently reassured by her Housing Coordinator that she is not alone, that the program is there to support her and that together they can navigate one challenge at a time. Each step Jasmine takes—whether maintaining her housing, building a stronger financial foundation or investing in her personal well-being—brings her closer to her ultimate goal of creating stability and a brighter future where her child can return home.
